Abandoned Places: Maplewood Village Station

Something a bit darker for today. Situated in the town of Bethlehem, NH is the former Maplewood Village railroad station, which opened in 1881. According to one website, the trains stopped running in the 1920s. Today, it is pretty much in ruins and seriously leaning to one side.

Thank you Izza. It was a challenge to photograph this because the sun was so strong that some areas were very bright and other areas looked dark. I’m glad you liked the photos. I’m looking for more abandon places to photograph. Cheers =)

Thank you, Teri. I admit that I was a bit anxious about the floor boards giving way but hoped that my snow shoes would distribute my weight over a large enough area to prevent that. Yesterday, i was told of an old grist mill and an old blast furnace up in the mountains. Perhaps these will be good for a spring time exploration.

That could be fun…The other thing would be to go at sunset with another person and have them move through the shot. I can shoot it so they look like a ghost…all blurry like the shot with the pizza. 🙂
