Commercial Wharf

Comercial Wharf

Yesterday, I showed an image from Boston’s Christopher Columbus park. Turning around and walking 30 yds/m, I was at the water’s edge looking at Commercial Wharf. I’m not sure there is much commercial about Commercial Wharf anymore. These are now luxury condos and lofts for sale or rent. There are fewer boats in the water now and those in the water are getting buttoned up for winter.

Your night shots are so beautiful. What is your secret? (I mean as far as the camera. Being an excellent photographer is not something you can teach in a comment. πŸ™‚ )

Thank you. I am shooting with a dSLR mounted on a tripod and I either use a cable/remote shutter release or set my shutter to go off 2 seconds after I hit the button so that I am not causing the camera to vibrate. The ISO is fairly low for night shots 100 to 400. This was 100 which meant I had a long exposure time. I wanted that to smooth out the water a bit. I tend to shoot shutter/time priority but will pay attention to my aperture to make sure I have the correct depth of field. I see posts on your site from not too far away…If you’re ever in the area, let me know and we can go out on a night shoot. I hope this helps. Thank you so much! I would love that. I play with my camera, and love to take photos, but don’t know nearly enough about the technical aspects.

Thank you….I’d love to live in that building in the background. How cool would that be? You’d be like 5 minutes walk to some of the best stuff in Boston.
