Corredor de Mexico

ON Saturday night, as my wife and I enjoyed the ambiance leading up to the Boston Marathon, I spotted this man wrapping himself in a flag. (Another image of the man with the flag can be seen in the prior post.) I went over and asked him what it was. “It is the flag of Mexico.”, he told me. I met several runners from Mexico at the finish line that night. All came for the camaraderie and to make photos. This man was kind enough to let me make this image of him. (“Corredor” is the Spanish word for “runner”.)

Man with Pipe by Christopher OKeefe

On Saturday afternoon, I was out shooting in Lowell. I’ve been trying to get better at not just getting quick street shots but making more deliberate photos of people, including asking some people for permission to take their photo. It is still a bit intimidating for me still and I passed on a couple of opportunities. Heading back to my car, this man and I crossed the street together. He looked interesting. I made a point of starting a conversation and then asking if I could take his photo. He willingly obliged but said that if I made any money off it, he wanted a cut. 🙂
